Morphine analgesia: There is no limit to morphine doseage after anesthesia. Doctors order a starting dose based on weight, age, and expected severity of pain. Subsequent doses are titrated by the patient's response. The patient can even participate in the process by pushing a button to deliver pain medication as needed - patient controlled analgesia ( pca )!

See below: There are many medications that are used to treat post-operative pain. Your anesthesiologist will ensure that your pain is controlled in the post anesthesia (recovery) room. Once you go to the floor, or to home, the surgeon will manage your pain. Talk to your surgeon about your concerns about pain control.
