Sounds like abscess: It sounds like an early dental abscess. As the abscess gets larger it will hurt even when you don't press on the tooth. See your dentist. You may need a root canal or extraction.

Your symptoms could: Be from an abscess (infection) or a cracked tooth or root, or something else. Don't try to guess what it might be. Find out what it is by seeing a dentist for a definitive diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

Can be abscess : Pain with pressure is one of the symptoms of a dental abscess . There can also be some redness and swelling. This will not go away by itself and it can progress with increasing pain and seriousness. You should see a dentist for treatment.

Swelling: An acute dental abscess of either periodontal or root canal origin distinguish themselves with swelling. A chronic abscess exhibits a point of drainage called a sinus track. Pressure sensitivity can be caused by a host of problems. It would be best for you to see your dentist for a comprehensive examination. Good luck.
