There may be a small calcification on the gum. It is best to not irritate the area. Use good dental care and a Pediatric Dentist evaluate. Annual dental examinations are recommended. Watch for signs of redness, swelling and drainage.

There are textbooks full of things that it could be, and providing a list without doing an examination would be counter-productive if not dangerous. Most are benign, a few are not. Your son should already be under the care of a Dentist since his 1st b'day, preferably a specialist Pediatric Dentist. Please have him examined by a competent professional. And the sooner the better.
