Maybe: What type of mouth guard do you have? Is it custom made or a generic guard from a local store? The generic ones come with directions to heat it and bite into the softened material so that it fits your mouth. If you don't fit it properly, it does not protect your teeth from any trauma.Custom guards are made for your mouth by a dentist and do not need to be heated for fit.

Mouth guards: The store-bought mouth guards that you buy and try to form to the teeth just don't fit very well. The custom-made professional mouth guards fit snugly. They almost 'snap' in. You do not have to keep your teeth together to keep them in. The players can speak and yell to each other and the coaches. Ask your dentist to fit you with a custom made mouth guard.
