Purified, Esterified: Most omega 3 supplements come from fish oil, but fish has traces of heavy metals like mercury & pcb's, dioixins etc.Choose a fish oil purified via pharmaceutical-grade molecular distillation & esterified to make digestible. Ideally it's assayed by 3rd parties. Reliable brands include nordic naturals, designs for health& minami. Some feel krill & calamari oil are better than fish oil.

Omega Brite is another reliable brand, and it's much higher in EPA (important for people with depression or Bipolar Disorder). The DHA is structurally important for brain and heart in the developing baby & mom, but EPA is found to be more active against inflammation pathways.

Where it came from? : I do not mean location. Small cold water fish: krill; sardine; anchovies- they contain virtually no heavy metals. Avoid oil from larger fish!
