Motrin or tylenol (acetaminophen): As long as your child is not allergic to motrin(advil and Ibuprofen are the same thing) or tylenol (acetaminophen) you can use either of those. Motrin tends to be more effective for pain so i would suggest using that. I would also suggest contacting his provider to be seen to make sure it is not strep throat. While most infections children get are viral and need no meds strep does require antibiotics.

Check concentration: 15 ml of either 160 mg/ 5ml Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen 100mg/ 5 ml. Follow the dosing intervals on the package.
