Needs evaluation: Sounds like acute pharyngitis -so he needs testing for Group A Strep (Strep throat) because that can be serious, and testing for Mono. (Especially if he has been kissing someone/sharing drinks as teenagers do). A quick office visit or Urgent Care visit can help determine the cause, and then the treatment can be targeted to help him recover faster and feel better! (There are other causes too BTW).
