See Pediatrician: Strep throat often presents with sore throat and fevers. A quick strep test can be done, even at many cvss. If bacterial cultures are negative and it is a virus (often viruses have higher temperature rises than bacterial infections), alternating Acetaminophen with Ibuprofen as prescribed by a pediatrician, cold compresses (keeping the fever low naturally), may help. Best of luck.

Possibly: Why don't you speak with your pediatrician or primary care doctor? If you have none i would still suggest having him evaluated in a urgent care center as antibiotics may be needed.
