Hepatitis B testing: You should have it rechecked. Hbsag or surface antigen tests are the same, not like in HIV which has screening and confirmatory test. Normally, in the window period after an acute infection, all test for surface antigen or its antibodies are negative except for antibody to core antigen. Hbsag or surface antigen appears right after infection or exposure and disappears in recovery.
