In some cases..: It does occasionally happen that inner ear infections are mistaken for anxiety, particularly when a patient has a history of anxiety or presents as an "anxious type". There are some overlapping symptoms such as dizziness or vertigo that account for this. For any patient, if he or she feels as though something more than anxiety is present to voice those concerns or seek a second opinion.
