Bunion: Avoid high heel shoes, and wear shoes with a wide toebox (the area across the ball of the foot). This should help with the pain you are experiencing. You may also need to see a podiatrist or orthopedic surgeon. Good luck!

Family history: Bunions tend to run in families and brace may give temporary relief with wider shoes. Nothing will stop it from forming but it is a slow progression of the first metatarsal shifting medial. Orthotics may slow the progression. Talk to your foot specialist.
