Antibiotics in GYN : Lannie: there is no need for antibiotics during a routine gynecological exam after knee replacement. There is no extra risk of infection to the knee hardware from a routine pap smear.

Maybe: The rules have changed. There was a paper published last year by the ada and aaos (http://www.Ada.Org/8059.Aspx that states that the evidence for using antibiotics before dental treatment is not conclusive and that the patient should be made aware of the pro's and con's then make their own mind's up.
