No longer recommend: The American Heart Association no longer recommends antibiotics in this situation. They are the organization most of the United States looks to for such advice. In former years prolapse with a murmur warranted antibiotic therapy. This change in recommendation is difficult for many to swallow, yours truly included. Personally, if a murmur of mitral regurgitation accompanies MVP I still say abx yes

Yes: Definitely take the antibiotics before dental procedures, including cleanings. Guidelines seem to change every 2 years or so, but prevention is definitely the best policy.
