Is 2mgs of lorazapam a safe dose for situational stress from work not sleeping well and experiencing some anxiety over tight schedules etc?

Sedatives: 2mg is a significant dose especially if it is the first time taking the medication. Rarely is that a starting dose. Initial prescriptions for that medication are in the .5-1 mg range. Benzodiazepines are a controlled substance with high potential for abuse and dependence. Side effects are hypotension and hypoventilation. They should be used cautiously and patients monitored closely.
