Increases: During an asthma flare or attack, frequently the respiratory rate increases (like panting). However, some people having asthma can have normal respiratory rate. When a person has controlled asthma or not experiencing asthma symptoms, the respiratory rate should be normal. Having asthma should not change the baseline respiratory rate.
