All and None: All approved HIV tests can give an accurate and reliable result to show the status of the person being tested. The test doesn't have to be expensive. The doctor can discuss what the result means, because the result means different things in different patients, depending on the patient's history and risk factors. That means no test will show whether or not a person got new HIV in the past 24 hours!
