Is my hand sprained? dull pain just above wrist bet. pinky knuckle and wrist. minimal/no swelling, full rom w/ only dull pain.punched refrigerator

Sprained or bruised: If the pain is truly dull, and there is minimal swelling and full pain free motion of the joints of the fingers knuckles and wrist, there is little chance of a fracture. Swelling, deformity and pain is more of a concern and should be evaluated by a medical professional.

Have it evaluated: Your pain could be as a result of many different things. One would need to do a thorough history and physical exam and possibly some radiology exams to determine the exact cause. Have it evaluated by a professional to see if you have fractured it of if it is just a soft tissue injury such as a contusion or a sprain. You may have injured nerves, blood vesicles, muscles, ligaments or tendons.
