Punched a wooden door. think a bone in hand is fractured. have splinted ring and pinky together and kept it straight but swelling hasn't gone down after 2 days. is this normal or should i have it checked out?

Boxers Fracture?: You have treated correctly but would get it xray'd if still sore. Try anti-inflammatory and panadol.

I fractured my hand and broke a small piece of bone of in the middle of my hand. The ER dr put me in splint until i saw the ortho, will this need surgery or a cast and the piece of bone can stay there?
