Try NSAIDS for pain: For a week. If no improvement with that along with heat pads and gentle exercises as pain decreases, the you need to see your local orthopod and get investigated/treated. Generally these simple measures would greatly improve your pain. Pt would also help. Good luck.

Prob pulled muscle. : Try heat , stretching , Ibuprofen etc If not improving over the next week see a real MD to make sure nothing serious. Avoid seeing a chiro who will try to hook you into frequent , expensive ‘adjustments’ for the next 3 years

Impingement syndrome: Most likely you slept with your arm overhead. You could have developed a bursitis between your shoulder and acromion. If it doesn't go away with rest and ibuprofen, see an orthopedist. If it is not your shoulder, but rather the muscle between your neck and shoulder (trapezius), rest and time should cure it.
