Wrong decision.: If statin medication is indicated, the antiinflammatory and lipid-lowering effects outweigh any small effect on blood sugar. Statins help prevent strokes and heart attacks; in many studies, a comparison of comparable groups on statins vs those not on statins reveals improved survival of those on statins, irrespective of blood sugar levels. It doesn't mean one shouldn't diet and treat diabetes.

Dubious: While there have been some reports of diabetes associated with statin use in the press the data is weak. In order to cause diabetes in one person you would have to treat 255 patients with a statin for 4 years. Your glucose intolerance is most likely a product of western diet, age and possible inactivity. Before stopping a statin please consult your doctor.
