Significant mediastinal lymphadenopathy. what does this mean? this was detected during ct coronary angiography.

Significant: Implies enlarged, or over 10 mm in the shortest dimension of the node. There are many potential cause of this and not all are cancers. Infectious/reactive causes : follicular/paracortical hyperplasia sinus histiocytosis granulomatous (histiocytosis, tb, ect.) cancers: metastases, lymphoma drugs : e.g. Cyclosporin, phenytoin, methotrexate lipid storage diseases.

Workup: The term significant can have different meanings (lots of nodes vs. Big nodes) with many possible causes but will probably need further study. Stay in touch with your doc on this matter. Best to you, hope its nothing serious.
