My 3.5 yr old has had a lazy eye documented since less than a yr old, it's gotten so much worse and only have medicaid now. frisco- any good surgeons?

Maybe not necessary: Has your child been evaluated for eyeglasses? If the child is farsighted, wearing the proper eyeglasses will often straighten the eyes without surgery. Glasses are easily adjusted as the child grows and the eyes change. Doing surgery too young may result in an eye that turns out as a teen, which is even worse than the initial problem.

Needs evaluation: A "lazy" eye is one which turns in (less common out) due to the brain ignoring that image (termed amblyopia). If simply due to refractive difference, then eyeglasses may improve the position but not the amblyopia. This might need patching therapy to bring the vision up and must be done at a young age before it gets permanent.
