A member asked:

Colonoscopy revealed grade 1 external hemorrhoids, hypertrophied anal papilla (3mm), & tortuous sigmoid colon. please explain what this all means.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Fairly normal: These can all be common and benign findings. Grade 1 are tiny hemorrhoid veins located at the anal opening & needs no treatment. Hypertrophied papillae means enlarged skin structures at the anal opening that need no treatment. Tortuos colon just means there are extra turns in the colon & no treatment. Avoid constipation. Eat more fiber. See your GI doctor for follow up.
