Not for insomnia: Alprazolam is a sedative, but is not really intended for insomnia. Insomnia can happen for many reasons, including depression, drug/alcohol use, sleep apnea, restless legs, etc. If you have have not had a full evaluation of your sleep problem, i hope you will seek it out. You can start with your family doctor, but may also need to see a sleep medicine physician and/or psychiatrist.
