I have difficulty sleeping at night.thrice a week i take alprazolam 0.25 mg to sleep. is it safe?will it cause any problems if i have to get pregnant?

Too short a 1/2 life: Most sedatives (including alcohol) whose blood level drops fairly rapidly may help you to fall asleep but may interfere with staying asleep. Benzodiazepines (such as alprazolam), are pregnancy category d, meaning there is evidence of fetal risk. It would be useful to know the cause of your sleep difficulty - ?Anxiety, ?Depression, ? Poor sleep hygiene, ?Pain, ? Sleep apnea - to guide treament.
