A member asked:

I have been taking xanax (alprazolam) 0.5mg at bedtime only for 10 years. could this cause insomnia? how can i stop taking this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dependence: It's possible that you have developed tolerence to xanax (alprazolam) 0.5 mg because you have been taking it for so long. You can reduce the dose to three quarters of the tab for one week, then half a tab for one week and stop and see what happens. Ofcourse, it's always better to consult with the doctor who is prescribing your medication.
