Who knows: As a rheumatologist, i never turn fibro patients away but some rheumatologists do. Try the med school rheumatologists.

Selectivity: Doctors may feel more comfortable and competent in some areas than others. They're also free to select their patients, and refer out those whom they don't feel they can personally help. Fibromyalgia is a complex and chronic illness requiring multiple kinds of interventions. If it were me, i'd be grateful for the doctor's honesty -- and would ask who s/he refers to for my type of condition.
