Addison's disease: Psychiatric symptoms in patients with adrenal insufficiency can include (1) mild to moderate organic brain syndrome in 5 to 20%, (2) depression in 20 to 40%, manifested by apathy, poverty of thought, and lack of initiative, and (3) psychosis in 20 to 40%. Addisons and mood: Yes in the form of apoptosis( a form of cell death in which a programmed sequence of events leads to the elimination of cells without releasing harmful substances into the surrounding area).Stress and depression shows possible link to cell death in a study by printha et al in  2009. It demonstrated that cell death can be accelarated by low levels of cortisol (addisons) and high levels (stress).
