A member asked:

Has it really been shown that doctors forbid pregnant women to be vegan?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: However, they need supplements even more than do other pregnant woman, and if compliance can't be assured, baby's in extra danger. A well-educated vegan has nothing to fear; one that's not well-informed risks deficiencies in b12, iron, iodine, zinc, calcium usable vitamin a, and vitamin d (depending on their choices).
