Tests that : Will determine the severity and etiology of intestinal obstructions are, in general, abdominal x rays 3 views and ct abdomen and pelvis with oral and IV contrast. But it depends on the context. Other tests might be more appropriate, depending on clinical context. Please ask your doctor for specific advice.
