A member asked:

Will kidney donors take medicine for the rest of their life?

No: Kidney donors are chosen after an extensive array of tests- they must be healthy, low risk for developing chronic diseases like hypertension, diabetes etc.So kidney donors are not given any medications because they donated kidney. They will probably need some pain meds after the donation surgery. The need for medications will arise if they develop any medical illness in future.

No: Kidney donors are not required to take medicine indefinitely. If the donor requires medicine for other reasons they will still have to take it. We usually make sure they avoid medications that could affect their remaining kidney.
