I was diagnosed with a 2cm hiatal hernia. i'm 25. should i be concerned with having to take ppi's (trustan) for the rest of my life. is kidney damage a concern? i've tried to come off the meds but my symptoms worsen.

Hiatal hernia issues: I would avoid any foods that cause issues - particularly soda. Also try elevating the head of your bed - a red brick under each headpost. Also avoid eating close to bedtime and drinking alcoholic beverages Sometimes a tablespoon of antacid will help without the potential of long term PPI's Good luck.
