A member asked:

What are your takes on this?my 56yo mother has potential and matched kidney donor, which is my 75yo grandmum.however, medical team refused to proceed as once,my gmr missed her hypertension meds(she forgot to bring) during their follow up.is that valid?

Decisions are hard: There tends to be much psychological pressure among close relatives when it comes to organ donations among them. Also, a 75 year-old kidney has been in use for 75 years, which feels like a long time. Would somebody want to receive a 75 year-old kidney? Taking one from Grandma would leave an elderly woman with only one remaining old kidney. Decisions are hard.
