Analyse risk/benefit: A risk/benefit analysis will bring all the factors together to help you and your family decide if and when to intervene. Monitoring a 5 mm cerebral aneurysm with repeat imaging and medical therapy carries the first risk. An intervention must have lower risk. Typically interventions are offered at 10mm size. Okay to discuss with your doc. Have family with you to help ask questions. Good luck.

Coiling: The decision usually is based on anatomy of the aneurysm. If the aneurysm has a narrow neck and does not involve other vessels then coiling is the way to go as your recovery is almost nothing. Clipping is a big surgery with a lengthy recovery
