Reasonable to try: Thyroid problems often manifest during pregnancy- i don't think we know exactly why. But low thyroid increases risk of miscarriage. Tsh is not the best indicator- ask your doc to check free T3 as well. It is reasonable to take some iodine as well as low iodine is a common cause of hypothyroidism.Consider adding T3 (cytomel (liothyronine) or armour) see http://www.Stopthethyroidmadness.Com/t4-only-meds-dont-work/.

Generally not: As there are potential side effects to iodine administration and it can also cause problems with your thyroid. Thyroid deficiency developing in pregnancy is very common and need to be treated rapidly and appropriately with brand name T4 replacement, and you doctor needs to check you frequently throughout your pregnancy to make sure your level is correct.
