For an endocrinologist: significant weight gain in past two years. had my plasma pth tested. result 100 pg/ml. tsh is 1.93. dr prescribed levothyroxine 150 mcg. signs of pcos too. why was i given high thyroid med dose since tsh is normal?

With a normal TSH, it is still possible under certain conditions to be hypothyroid, as in Hashimoto's thyroiditis , for example. An endocrinologist may prescribe levothyroxine to correct thyroid hormone deficiencies. A plasma PTH of 100pg/ml is elevated, and may require additional treatment from your endocrinologist.

Weight gain is almost always related to eating more than you burn. Almost never your hormones. Use the app Cronometer and track calories in and out and it should become clear what is going on.
