Can white noise be disruptive to my deep sleep?

Dr. Pam Yoder answered

White noise effects: Most people buy white-noise machines or recordings to block out occasional/intermittent sounds like honking horns, barking dogs, etc. While some work better than others, many people find they help them fall and/or remain asleep. Their effectiveness can vary with level of fatigue and depth of sleep cycle. Anyone caring for a baby or child should avoid anything that will make it hard to hear crying.
