A member asked:

How fast can teeth shift? now that my wisdom teeth are coming in, i'm convinced my front teeth are moving by the day.

Not too fast: There may be other things going on in your mouth. Teeth typically do not shift quickly and not very much after wisdom tooth extractions. See your dentist for an evaluation to find out what is going on in your mouth.

Not related: Scientific evidence shows wisdom teeth do not cause crowding but can become cystic or other disease . The crowding and developing wisdom teeth occur at the same time. Imagine 12 chairs lined up in an arch. How hard do you have to push on the back chairs to crowd the front? The wisdom teeth do not exert enough pressure. The front teeth shifting is for different reasons, not the wisdom teeth.

There is no: Defined measurement for movement. If you feel the pressure of erupting wisdom teeth causing the remaining teeth to move, you should consult with your dentist to be evaluated for removal of the involved wisdom teeth. Waiting will not solve the problem so best not to procrastinate. Hope this helps.
