Triptans: The triptans are a class of medications specifically indicated for the treatment of migraine. They include imitrex, maxalt, relpax, (eletriptan) amerge, frova, zomig, and axert. Generally, they are taken at headache onset. If headache or associated symptoms are not resolved in 2 hours, then a 2nd pill can be taken. Old medicines include the ergotamines.
