Treatable but no cure: The first thing you want to do is make sure that the diagnosis is correct. There are a number of different types of headaches some of which are more treatable than others. I would recommend starting with a good headache neurologist. I see lots of patients who've been misdiagnosed with "migraines" when in fact they have headaches coming from their cervical spine or occipital nerves.

Yes: First you need to consult doctor to make sure the dx. Headache can be caused by many pathologies. If migraine is the correct DX by your doctor, treatment is available. Treatment of flaring up includes triptan, like imitrex, (sumatriptan) maxalt, etc, or non-steroid antiinformatory drugs, like ibuprofen, advil. For prophylactic purpose, beta blocker or calcium channel blocker can be used.
