Prescription : Toothpaste is given by prescription due to the amount of Fluoride it contains. Fluoride helps to combat extreme sensitivity and other decay related conditions. The average person does fine with the dosages delivered in over the counter toothpaste. Toothpaste delivered by prescription should be treated with care as is any other prescription medication...There can be side effects.
