They are different: Perioprotect is a antibiotic gel delivered to the gum margin through a tray. I do not aware of any toothpaste which contains antibiotics. Toothpaste may have antimicrobial agent but it is different from antibiotics. Bacteria may develop resistance after long term exposure to antibiotics. Perioprotect is not a solution for treatment if you have severe gum problem.

In my opinion.......: With mild to moderate sulcus depth, periodontal health can often be obtained with good oral hygiene (tooth brushing and flossing) along with professional scalings and\or prophylaxis (cleaning). In my opinion, anything more than that needs to be evaluated by a periodontist (or general dentist highly skilled in this area) for definitive periodontal treatment.

Many Factors: Perioprotect is great, but many factors are involved, your diet, your homecare, even your bite contribute to perio issues, so ask your dentist on doing multiple things like using hydrofloss, lasers, lanap, and if rx, consult with dentist... Generally combination of actions work best.

No!: Deeper sulci will not resolve with a toothpaste. The perioprotect trays will deliver the medication to the full depth of the sulcus and will keep it there long enough to be effective. It acts as a mini-hyperbaric chamber to create enough pressure to keep the medication where you need it- in the sulcus.
