T.O.P...: Poisoning, alcoholism, disease, trauma, etc. Can produce organic (non-functional) mental illnesses in which a person has a distorted, but transient, sense of what is objective reality. This is to be distinguished from either schizophrenia or related affective disorders. Check out the many "scholarly" articles for more detail and current research. Thanks!

Delerium? not sure: This is an icd 9 diagnosis. I tried to compare this with the dsm IV tr (psychiatric diagnostic codes) & am wondering if this is the equivalent of delirium due to a general medical condition. I don’t have the back ground history on this. Was a psychiatrist or a neurologist consulted for accuracy of diagnosis?
