...: The time from infection to seroconversion (i.e. Development of antibodies) can vary from 1-2 months. There is no "gold standard" for the diagnosis of htlv. The primary test for htlv infection is detection of the presence of antibody. A combination of a screening enzyme immunoassay (eia) followed by a confirmatory western blot (WB) is a common approach.
