Colonoscopy: Why do you want to avoid sedation. It makes the procedure much easier both for you and the doctor performing it. The discomfort is highly variable from person to person, but if bipsies are necessary you really should be sedated. Discuss with the doctor who will be doing this. Some will refuse non-sedated patients.

Depends...: A colonoscopy without sedation is possible if your colon is relatively straight and free of adhesions. Unfortunately you will not know if you have a "straight" colon until you get scoped. I have about half a dozen patients request no sedation for their colonoscopies every year and they usually do just fine. Good luck!
