Having colonoscopy friday. prep tomorrow. are there risks involved with the prep? im a very anxious person im worried about sedation but know its best to have it. ive had a slight cold and have been told i can go ahead. will this affect the op ?

No, you should proceed with the preparation, do not worry. Make sure you eat a low residual diet for a successful bowel prep. Good luck with the procedure.

The various formulations for the preparation are designed to thoroughly clean out the colon yet not result in dehydration or other worrisome side effects. The procedure should not be affected by your having a mild cold. Should be no problem to proceed. It is certainly much safer to go ahead and get it done, to reduce your risk of colon cancer, than it is to skip the procedure. Good luck!
