Propofol safe!: Talk to your physician anesthesiologist. Propofol is a very useful and safe medication as long as breathing and blood pressure are continuously monitored. Other meds like Midazolam will make you sleepy much longer; Demerol (meperidine hydrochloride) often causes nausea. Propofol provides better comfort during colonoscopy with a fast wakeup and small chance of nausea or other side effects.

Proofol: Is probably the best, it wears completely off in very short time. Benzodiazepines and narcotics, even short-acting, have a residual effect making you drowsy and possibly sick for the rest of the day. Propofol is an antiemetic. But Propofol requires constant monitoring and special skills to administer to be as safe.
