Varies: Some need at least 6-8 hrs of sleep each night. Others may get by with only 4-5hrs and others may require more than 9 hrs. Eights hrs may actually be too much for you. You may try to experiment with different time periods to see what your body needs. Sleep many be interrupted by episodes of apnea (breathing stops for a few moments), this would make you feel tired, no matter how long you sleep.

Variable: Sleep needs vary by individual and by age, with teenagers requiring the most and seniors needing the least. Most adults feel rested after 7.5-9 hours, but this is approximate. Activity level, previous sleep debt, diet, caffeine or alcohol use, and medical conditions like depression and sleep apnea can alter your level of fatigue; consider these if your sleep needs have changed a lot.

Hours of Sleep: Most studies have shown sleeping between 6 to 8 hours for the average person there are always exceptions. Sleeping less than 6 hrs or more than 8 hours can cause premature morbidity and mortality.
