Yes: But that is not a great idea without her being seen by a dentist, making sure what the problem is, and being certain she is not allergic to pcn. Take her to see a dentist. Some might interpret this as a form of child abuse.

No: Do not give your daughter penicillin with seeing a dentist. Penicillin alone will,not help her. She needs to have the area evaluated and treated.

See any dentist: Most gum pain is caused by inflammation. Antibiotics are not necessary in many cases. Take NSAIDs or Tylenol (acetaminophen) every 4-6 hours. Even if a pain reliever alleviates your symptoms, you should still see a dentist for evaluation and treatment.

Agree with Dr. G, +: if there is an abscess, giving small doses of oral penicillin will not prevent bacterial spread to the bloodstream, a heart valve or the pericardium. It will only mask symptoms & possibly interfere with identifying the causative bacteria from abscess or blood cultures. Check her temperature in AM & take her to her pedodontist tomorrow for antibiotic-free evaluation.
