Cidal vs Static Dose: Clindamycin is the best drug for bony infections of the mouth. However, it must be given in the bateriocidal dosage, not the bacteriostatic dosage. The -cidal dose is 300mg every 6 hours, and the -static dose is 150mg every 6 hours. Some docs can rx for every 8 hours, due to half-life studies; however, I have not found that to work as well, nor do most docs agree with the 8 hour dosing.

Healing infections-: Infections to be resolved require these three things- 1. Appropriate antibiotics 2. Remove or treat the cause 3. Your body's healing powers. If you have all three at work, it should solve the problem, although nothing is 100% full proof. Discuss with your own dentist or find one you trust (your question suggests otherwise).
